This photo and video was Jane’s first walk without Jansen. She was not really alone, because we were both with her, but we could really see how different it was for her. It was a hard walk for all of us, and one we have been putting off, because we knew it would make us sad. Both Rob and I missed having both of our dogs with us, but we are happy that Jane seems to be doing okay.

There is no doubt in our minds that the whole situation changed her, and seems to have confused her a little. We think that is because she is now the “watch dog”, whereas before she left that all to Jansen.

Much like with her playing inside the house, when we walked them both she was mostly interested in doing what Jansen was doing or chasing the sheep and cows. Now she needs to learn how to re-explore the world in her own way. She did really well, and even listened a little bit, which is something completely new for her, and followed along with us well.
